Hello Postpartum Period Team, my name is Mia Irby, from LA, I gave birth last week and I’m a first time mom. I’ve been stressed since I gave birth and I only founded out yesterday that I may be suffering from postpartum depression.

I’m 18 years old and I didn’t even know that there was something called postpartum depression until I founded your website yesterday.

My question is how to overcome postpartum depression naturally, I’ve been in too many website but I haven’t got my answer yet, I don’t want any treatment I don’t want any medication, I just want to beat this depression naturally.

9. Turn On Food Network

Since you lost your appetite it time to watch something that will make you hungry….

Cooking shows can be fun.

If you don’t know how to cook, it time to learn, these shows will keep you busy, and being busy is what you want right now.

You can’t think about depression when your mind is focusing on something else.

You must try to have a pleasant day. I know sometimes it is hard to leave the house, but when you go to watch a movie or go out to have coffee with a friend you will feel much better than being home alone.

Train yourself to think positive , it’s not always easy to cope with it, i have found that out myself postnatal depression is a horrible thing to have but if you try to stay positive i know you can do it just take day by day and you should be alright.

I'm talking about taking a walk for no reason, physical activities doesn't have to be complicated and hard. Something as simple as just taking a walk can help you live a healthier and decrease depression.

Talk to someone you know who have kids! I can guarantee you they have been affected by postpartum depression, ask for help, tips and different things they did to overcome this depression.

But for pregnant women and nursing women who just gave birth like you it harmful. Too much caffeine will cause problems like headaches, dizziness, tired all the time, lazy and make your heart beat faster and sometimes cause abnormal heart rhythms.

18. Stop trying to be a super mom

You have a 24/7 job of taking care of your baby

So stop trying to do everything yourself, you can’t clean the whole house at the same time do laundry and take care of your relatives.

You are depressed, you are suffering from postnatal depression, ask for help, ask for assistance, if you are married or living with your boyfriend then ask him to wash the dishes after dinner or breakfast.

This Isn't What I Expected [2nd edition]: Overcoming Postpartum Depression

This book really helped me a lots to finally understand all of the symptoms and stages of Postpartum Depression, it is also very detailed, supers easy to understand.

It also helped regain the relationship with my mom, my friends but mostly my husband! That why I recommend. It to you and you should read it and recommend it to every woman who is suffering from this and also to women who are pregnant.

20. Take Vitamin C

You need vitamin c after you gave birth, you need to eat citrus fruits , broccoli ,tomatoes and a lots of spinach. You need vitamin c for your body since you have lost blood while giving birth. Eating food with vitamin c will repair the tissues in all part of your body.

What kind of food has vitamin c

Food that have vitamin c includes citrus food , spinach ,potatoes , dark leafy greens , peas , kiwifruit , broccoli , berries ,cucumber , carrots and more…. Making your own homemade soup is recommended.

Eat 4 eggs a day either omelet or boiled or in salad with tuna, snacks like celery and chopped carrots.
