Can I use cat shampoo on my puppy

Question

Hey guys, this is Cynthia Clark from New York, We have two cats at home and I just decided to get a new puppy, my question is can I use cat shampoo on my puppy or just use something else like a hair shampoo. I’m 13 years of age and I can’t afford to buy a separate dog shampoo.

Can I use cat shampoo on my puppy

It depends, some cat shampoos can be used on dogs and some cat shampoos cannot be used on puppies, you need to read the description on the shampoo you are using on the cat.

If the shampoo doesn’t say anything on the description then I’ll recommend going to the shampoos websites and check the frequently asked questions (FAQ’s), I’m sure you’ll get a right answer there.

The easiest solution I have for you is buying Adams flea and tick cleansing shampoo, it cheap and it can be used on dogs, cats, puppies and kittens, it what I recommend to people who have both cats and dogs in order to save money.

Using a separates shampoo to bath your dog or cat will be very expensive, pet product are very expensive these days, just buy Adams cleansing shampoo in order to use a single shampoo for both pets.

Do not use a hair shampoo on your dog, it is not recommended, human product are very different from pet product, using a hair shampoo on your puppy will dry out it skin.

Avoid using the following shampoos on your pets

These types of shampoos can be very harmful and toxic on pets, you need to be very careful on what you use when bathing your pets especially puppies and kittens.

According to the FDA pets product and human product are too different and can’t be used vice versa, which simple means humans can’t use pet product on the self’s and we also can’t use human product on our pets.

Warning

A lot of people on online forums will tell you that using cat shampoo on a puppy is okay, well many people who give advises on online pet forums have a little knowledge when it comes to taking care of a pet so you really need to watch out who you listen to online especially on pet forums like Quora and Yahoo.

A have received a lot of uneducated advices from forums like Yahoo and Quora, sometimes people will answer questions just to keep their accounts active and some will answer other people’s questions just for fun.

What I want you to take from this article is, don’t just use any cat shampoo on a puppy, read it description first or ask a vet. Or just take my advice and use Adams cleansing shampoo for both.

I’m recommending Adams cleansing shampoo just because me and my wife sell puppies and kittens for a living and this is what was recommend to us by a vet.

99.9% percent of the time

Cat shampoo won’t do any harm when using on a dog or a small puppy, cats are more sensitive than dogs meaning cat shampoos won’t be that strong and can be used on dogs as well.

Most of the time cat shampoos are very mild, I think every shampoo that was made for cat have aloe in it and no chemicals, since the cat will also clean itself and lick itself often even after taking a bath.

Cat shampoos are usually safe enough to be eaten by cats when licking them self’s, so I honestly think it won’t really matter if you use a cat shampoo on your puppy.

Warning

Don’t ever use a dog shampoo on a cat though, dog shampoos can be very toxic when using on a cat.

Most shampoos for cats and dogs are usually made with the same ingredients but dog shampoos has some other ingredients that will be added on them such as “tea oil” which can be very toxic when using on a cat. Just be careful and read the shampoos description before using it vice versa…..
