Aquaphor or Vaseline for Tattoos

Question

Should I use Aquaphor or Vaseline for Tattoos? I recently had a tattoo and was wondering if using Aquaphor was okay or should I just stick with the Vaseline

Aquaphor or Vaseline for Tattoos

If you just had a tattoo and it is painful then the best thing to use on it is Aquaphor.

To answer your question, both Aquaphor and Vaseline can be used on a tattoo, but I would advise you to use Aquaphor simple because it will sooth your skin and make it soft again.

I went to 5 different tattoo artist and this is what they had to say:

Brody ibrahimovic:

The only thing I advise people to use on tattoos is a lotion called “Aquaphor healing ointment ”, it makes the tattoos heal faster and also can numb the temporary pains if the tattoo is still fresh.

To people who just has a tattoo and suffering from after tattoo temporary pains, they need to only use Aquaphor since it can be very helpful in making the healing process much faster.

I wouldn’t recommend using Vaseline on a tattoo, I’ve tried it and it doesn’t do anything regarding pains, but it does help in making the skin a lot smoother.

Aquaphor is the go to cream if you are looking for a lotion to use on your tattoos, it protect your tattoos from getting dry.

The only advice I have for people thinking about having a tattoo or people who just had a tattoo is to not use scents, glitter and dyes.

Most lotions that contains scents will cause skin irritation and itching on a newer tattoo. So avoid lotions like that.

Your skin will be very sensitive after having tattoo, avoid using lotions with scents because for most people it cause burning and can lead in making razor burn or red bumps.

No No NO, people shouldn’t use Vaseline on tattoos it has 100% percent petroleum which is a lot, they need to use a lotion called Aquaphor even though it also has 41% percent of petroleum.

Aquaphor has 41% percent of petroleum but that will not cause any problems, Aquaphor also has lanoline and glycerin to soothe the skin and get it back to its original softness.

I would advise people to make sure to use Aquaphor before going to bed so it can moisturizes the skin while they are asleep, Aquaphor is the best lotion to use on tattoos.

Usually recommend Vasocaine Numbing Spray Painless Anesthetic Numb to people after having a tattoo but it very expensive for most people, that why I mostly recommend Aquaphor to college students who can’t afford Vasocaine.

If you just had a tattoo and suffering from temporary pains then buy Vasocaine, but if you can’t afford it then use Aquaphor.

Benefit of using Aquaphor on a tattoo

  • It doesn’t sting
  • It doesn’t smell
  • It numbs the pains
  • It stops the bleeding
  • It prevents red pumps or razor burn
  • It can be used anytime of the day
  • It works for everybody, this lotion can be even used on newborns
  • It very cheap
  • It easy to apply
  • It will get rid of the burn
  • It get rid of the itching or skin irritations immediately after applying it on your tattoos
  • Just don’t use Vaseline, stick with Aquaphor and you won’t have any problems.

As a tattoo artist I know a lot of pain relieving products people can use on newer painful tattoos but I really think the best ointment to use on tattoos available on the market right now is Aquaphor simple because it can prevent itching, numbs temporary pains and also make the skin softer.

I also have 6 tattoos myself and I found that using Aquaphor does make them heal faster and lot smoother.

I would avoid using Vaseline on newer tattoos, but I won’t tell you the reasons one.
